Lithuanian Delegation Explores Cutting-Edge Innovations at Caltech and NASA JPL
On September 16, Sandra Brikaitė, Consul General of Lithuania in Los Angeles, together with Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) delegation led by Rector Eugenijus Valatka visited the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where Lithuanian delegation learned about cutting-edge innovations and forged new partnerships in the field of research and technology.
During their visit to Caltech, Lithuanian representatives toured the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) laboratory, where innovative gravitational-wave research is carried out, and the Sergio Pellegrino Laboratory, where innovative technologies in the field of space engineering are being developed. The Autonomous Robotics and Control Laboratory provided an insight into advances in autonomous systems.
Lithuanian delegation exchanged ideas on future technologies with Caltech experts, scientists and innovators as well as discussed possible opportunities for cooperation between KTU and Caltech.
Representatives of Consulate General of Lithuania together with KTU team also visited NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where NASA JPL experts presented their space research activities. In addition, Lithuanian delegates were introduced to the innovative technologies and the developments implemented by the Microdevices Laboratory.
Fruitful visit to and meetings with Caltech and NASA JPL experts and scientists were organized in cooperation with Prof. Jonas Žmuidzinas, a Lithuanian-American currently working at the California Institute of Technology. Professor is a renowned physicist who has contributed to a number of scientific projects of global significance, including the NASA Voyager mission.
