New Faces, Shared Goals: Get to Know the Mission of the Consular Officer and Commercial Attaché in Los Angeles

Since August, the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Los Angeles has welcomed a new consular officer, Sandra Zolubienė. She arrived in Los Angeles with her family - her husband Audrius and daughters Eleonora and Emilija. The family has already settled into their new environment and is enjoying the opportunity to live in a culturally diverse and dynamic city. According to Zolubienė, her first impressions have been extremely positive, and the warm hospitality of the local Lithuanian community has made it easier to feel at home.

Zolubienė begins her term at the Consulate with many years of experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She previously worked in the fields of European Union and Eastern Partnership policy and, more recently, focused on Lithuania - United States bilateral relations.

In her new role, Zolubienė aims not only to provide high quality consular services but also to actively engage with the Lithuanian diaspora. She hopes that by participating in community events, meetings, and celebrations, she will better understand the needs of local Lithuanians and help maintain a close connection between Lithuania and its citizens abroad.

“I believe that open communication and genuine listening help build a strong bridge between Lithuania and its citizens living abroad. I would love to visit all eight U.S. states within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General in Los Angeles and meet the Lithuanian communities in each one - to get to know them better, hear their concerns, offer support, and celebrate what unites us,” says Sandra Zolubienė.

The new consular officer invites members of the diaspora to collaborate, share ideas, and work together to strengthen Lithuania’s visibility and reputation around the world.

This fall, another new face joined the team at the Consulate General in Los Angeles - Commercial Attaché Andrius Sankauskas, who brings over nine years of experience in international trade, investment attraction, and innovation. His daily work revolves around high technologies - fintech, biotech, and even lasers - as he seeks new opportunities and connects various businesses.

Andrius's work philosophy is simple: to promote business cooperation, attract new investment, and support Lithuanian companies in expanding into foreign markets. He places particular importance on international research partnerships and startup programs - places where the brightest ideas and boldest projects are born.

Before arriving in the City of Angels, Andrius served at Lithuanian embassies in South Korea and China, where he actively developed economic ties and sought new opportunities for Lithuanian businesses and innovations.

He arrived in Los Angeles with his wife Aurelija and daughter Paula, hoping not only to bring fresh ideas and energy to Lithuanian business development but also to become an active part of the vibrant Lithuanian community in the region.
