The celebrations of the Lithuanian Statehood and Independence Restoration Days focus on the support of Ukraine
The Restoration of the Statehood and Independence of Lithuania commemoration events on the West Coast of the USA this year were closely related to the support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.
On March 5th, the Lithuanian community in Washington State organized remote commemoration of the Restoration of the Statehood and independence of Lithuania. In her congratulatory speech, Laima Jurevičienė, Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania in Los Angeles, noted that freedom is not a gift, the struggle for freedom never ends, and stressed the importance of our focus and joint support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. The main guest of the commemoration event - Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Raimundas Karoblis - in his speech also focused on Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression and the related challenges to the security of Lithuania and Europe as a whole.
On March 6th, the Los Angeles Lithuanian community commemorated the days of the Restoration of the Statehood and Independence of Lithuania. In her speech, Lithuanian Consul General L. Jurevičienė emphasized the determination of the Ukrainian people and the importance of international support for Ukraine in its fight against unprovoked, illegal and unjustified aggression by Putin. Representatives of the Ukrainian Culture Center in Los Angeles also took part in the event.
L. Jurevičienė thanked the members of both communities and other participants of the events for their active involvement in organizing and providing various support to the attacked Ukraine, a strong position condemning Putin's aggression and supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
March 5th was dedicated to Ukraine in Los Angeles St. Casimir Lithuanian School. Through their works, the students expressed support for the country defending freedom.
On March 6th, the Ukrainian Culture Center in Los Angeles organized public meeting, which was attended by Mindaugas Čiaglys, Counsellor of the Lithuanian Consulate General in Los Angeles, as well as members of the Lithuanian community.
Lithuanians are also actively participating in the weekly support campaigns for Ukraine in various parts of Los Angeles.
