The Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania participated in the 36th Los Angeles Lithuanian Days Fair on October 1-2
Consul General Laima Jurevičienė in her welcome speech to the guests and participants of the Lithuanian days Fair, paid special tribute to Ukraine's fight against unprovoked and unjustified Russian aggression. L. Jurevičienė thanked the Lithuanian diaspora in the USA for their support to Ukraine and emphasized the importance of continued support for this country, which is fighting for the freedom of the whole of Europe.
Consul General presented the medal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania "For the Lithuanians of the World Merits to Lithuania" to Raimundas Šilkaitis, an active member of the Council of the Lithuanian Community in the United States, former longtime chairman of the Lithuanian community in Los Angeles and a current chairman of the Lithuanian Days Committee.
At the Consulate General’s booth, the fair visitors had an opportunity to meet the staff of the Consulate, to discuss consular matters, and receive informational publications about Lithuania. Those who participated and correctly answered the quiz question about Lithuanian history and culture won a symbolic Lithuanian gift.
At the invitation of the Consulate General, master of traditional arts and papercutting artist Laimutė Fedosejeva came to the Fair from Lithuania and decorated the Consulate's booth with stunning papercutting artwork. The guests of the Lithuanian Days had a rare opportunity to participate in the papercutting art lessons led by Laimutė Fedosejeva herself at the Consulate General's booth.
Los Angeles Lithuanian Days is a traditional annual event that takes place on the first weekend of October. Participants are a variety of Lithuanian businesses, artists, and Lithuanian organizations. At the Fair you can taste Lithuanian traditional food, such as šaltibarščiai, cepelinai while Lithuanian music bands, singers, and dancers from around the United States and Lithuania are performing. The event is organized by the Lithuanian community in Los Angeles and Lithuanian Days 2022 Committee.
