The Consulate General Participated in the Lithuanian Days Festival

The Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Los Angeles participated in the 35th Lithuanian Days festival on October 2-3.

Consul General Mrs. Laima Jurevičienė congratulated all those who came to the fair and expressed her gratitude to the event organizers, sponsors, participants, and volunteers. Consul General noted that the 35th Lithuanian Days is coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Lithuanian Community in the United States. Mrs. Jurevičienė noted Lithuanian diaspora’s importance for the restoration of Lithuania's independence and the constant support to the life of the country.

At the Consulate General’s stand the fair visitors could meet the staff of the Consulate, discuss important consular questions, inquire about consular services, receive informational publications on Lithuania, and visit Kaunas' European Capital of Culture 2022 photograph exhibition. Those who correctly answered the quiz questions about Lithuanian history and culture could win a symbolic Lithuanian gift. Also, the Consulate General stand’s visitors were invited to a meet and greet with Aistė and Augustinas Žemaitis - the creators and authors of the project ‘Global True Lithuania’. The project is aimed at discovering, documenting, and identifying Lithuanian heritage abroad.

During Lithuanian Days the Consulate General’s gift to the Lithuanian community in Los Angeles was presented. The work of the sculptor Vaidas Ramoška - the Angel of Vilnius landed in Los Angeles, on the rooftop of St Casimir Church in the Lithuanian Parish. The Angel will welcome all those who came to Little Lithuania.

During Lithuanian Days the flag of the Lithuanian Community in the United States has reached Los Angeles. The flag has been traveling around all the American Lithuanian communities since March 2021. The aim of this campaign is to spread the celebration the anniversary within the different American Lithuanian communities, to strengthen mutual relations and fondness towards Lithuania. Once the Consulate General and the Lithuanian community in Los Angeles have signed the flag, it will continue its travels to other states.

Lithuanian Days in Los Angeles is a traditional annual event that takes place on the first weekend of October. Participants are a variety of Lithuanian businesses, artisanal artists, and Lithuanian organizations. At the fair you can taste Lithuanian traditional food, such as šaltibarščiai or cepelinai while Lithuanian music bands, singers, and dancers from all over the United States and Lithuania are performing. The event is organized by the Lithuanian community in Los Angeles.
