The team of the Consulate General of Lithuania in Los Angeles took part in the 37th Lithuanian Days of Los Angeles on October 7-8, 2023.

Consul General Laima Jurevičienė congratulated the participants of the celebration, Lithuanian ambassador to the U.S. Audra Plepytė presented the medals of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania "For the Lithuanians of the World Merits to Lithuania" to honorable members of the Lithuanian Community in Los Angeles Violeta Gedgaudiene and Danguolė Razutis Varnas.

The visitors had a chance to visit the Consulate’s booth and meet the staff of the Consulate General, get information about consular services, Lithuanian economic and social situation, opportunities to return to Lithuania, and ask various questions. Those who participated and correctly answered the quiz questions about Lithuanian history and culture were gifted a Lithuanian souvenir.

By the invitation of the Consulate General, the master of Lithuanian folk arts Zita Indriūnienė arrived from Lithuania to share the Straw Garden (“sodai”) making craft techniques during her workshops. The special collection of Lithuanian folk motif ribbons was presented by Ramutė Kraujalienė, the chairwoman of the Vilnius City and Vilnius Region association of folk artists of Lithuanian folk artists' union. Both artists decorated the Consulate’s booths with the stunning Straw Gardens and ribbons.

Special attention was paid to Ukraine at the event. Representatives of the Ukrainian Community and “Stand With Ukraine Foundation in L.A.” had attended the fair.

The Seimas members Dalia Asanavičiūtė and Ieva Kačinskaitė-Urbonienė also visited Lithuanian Days and met with members of the Lithuanian Community. LRT journalist Augustinas Šemelis arrived to the fair from Washington, D.C.

Los Angeles Lithuanian Days is an annual event that takes place on the first weekend of October where you can taste Lithuanian traditional food such as šaltibarščiai, cepelinai, kugelis, enjoy musical performances by Lithuanian bands, singers, and dancers from around the United States and Lithuania. Participants are a variety of Lithuanian businesses, artists, and members of various Lithuanian organizations. The event is organized by the Lithuanian Community in Los Angeles and Lithuanian Days 2023 Committee.
